These are a few of my favourites:
Salems' Lot--BOTH the original movie and recent TV remake are AWESOME...original still scares the holy hell outta me even though I've seen it many times. Rutger Hauer as Mr. Barlow in the remake was truly fantastic.
The Dark Half--George Stark makes this one worth the price of admission. Gotta love the bumper sticker on his car..."High-Tone Son-of-a-bitch". Cool story line as well.
The Stand--yeah, it's one hell of a LONG read, but worth it. 'The Walking Dude'...classic!
The Dark Tower series--I think there's four of these now. 'Wizards and Glass' is the most recent one I've picked up. All of 'em are great books, but the first one, 'The Gunslinger', remains my favourite of the series.
If you're REALLY interested in good, detailed, GORY books, try the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. That dude can WRITE!! Stephen King couldn't tie Lumley's bootstrings, IMHO. There's my suggestions and good reading.

Yes, I have 4 past midnight with Secret Window, Secret Garden in it. And The Langoliers. I really liked both of them. I'm on The Library Policeman, too!
This has nothing to do with the books, (kind of does, but never mind). Anyway, John Turturro (the guy that played Shooter) has a kid that's obsessed with Stephen King. His 12 year old kid was the one that convinced him to accept the part of Shooter. I think he did a really good job of it too! I'll try to find the name of his kid, his name just escapes me at the moment.
